A Message to You is an artist book examining skinhead culture beyond the political and social assumptions that have come to define it.
Drawing on archival imagery, academic research and conversations with contemporary skinheads, I explored the histories, contradictions and emotional bonds held within the subculture. Rather than imposing a linear narrative, the book moves between past and present through shifting layouts, fragmented material and changes in visual form.
I researched, wrote, designed and hand-bound the publication, using risograph printing and Coptic binding to create an object that reflects the complexity of the culture it documents.
